ARC Receives New Federal Grant Funding To Address Homelessness

The Association of Religious Communities (ARC) has been awarded funding to address homelessness in greater Danbury under the new project award phase of the 2010-11 Continuum of Care Grant Competition.   The $63,600 in Supportive Housing Program funding was awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for ARC’s proposal to assist persons who are homeless transition to permanent housing.

The Greater Danbury Continuum of Care, which coordinates the Continuum of Care application process, had previously been awarded $930,300 in renewal funding by HUD to continue four existing programs aiding people who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.   The Continuum is a key partner with the Danbury Housing Partnership in efforts to implement the region’s Ten-Year Plan To End Homelessness.

ARC is the lead agency responsible for implementing the Dream Homes Community Center that serves as the Point-Of-Entry for persons seeking assistance regarding homelessness.  In addition to providing social supportive services to clients, ARC also serves as the administrator of the Homeless Management Information System for the Danbury region.

“This is wonderful news for efforts to address homelessness in the Danbury region,” stated Danbury Housing Partnership Chair Mark J. Nolan.  “We congratulate ARC on this great achievement and thank Rev. P.J. Leopold and her staff for all the wonderful work they’ve done to support efforts to end homelessness and make the Dream Homes Community Center a success.”
